Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Rolls Past Immaculata, 4-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – An overpowering first half lifted the Ursinus Women's Soccer to team to a 4-0 win over Immaculata in non-conference play on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at Patterson Field.
 
 
With the win, the Bears improved to 5-3-2 overall while the Mighty Macs fell to 1-6-1 overall.
 
 
The Bears connected immediately on their first shot attempt of the game to make it 1-0 when sophomore Taylor Pezulich, who rocketed a long ball from the right side 15 yards out and into the top part of the net in the fifth minute. The Mighty Macs nearly had an equalizer 23 seconds later when a shot was just sent wide right of the Bears net following a quick rush. Ursinus kept the pressure on and extended its lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute when senior Adriana Careless tapped in a perfect ball into the box from first-year Lily Ballard. Sophomore Emma Woch initially sent Ballard up for her pass into the box to Careless. In the 23rd minute, Careless struck again for her second goal of the game after tapping in a cross from the left corner by Pezulich.
 
 
Pezulich added her second goal of the game to make it 4-0 just three minutes into the second half after collecting a ball off a deflection from a Mighty Mac defender and blasting it past the goalkeeper 1-on-1 in the box. The Bears continued to control play in the second half and limited the Mighty Macs to just one shot as they finished off the shutout.
 
 
The Bears held a commanding 24-3 advantage in total shots and a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal. Each team received three corner kicks as well. Sophomores Mallory Toomey and Alyssa Marraffino combined on the shutout with Toomey earning the win after making the start and one save in 57:15 of action. Emily Guthier suffered the loss in net for Immaculata after making five saves in 60:10.
 
 
Pezulich recorded a career-high five points behind her two goals and one assist while Careless matched her career high with two goals.
 
 
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, October 4th as they will host Muhlenberg at 12:00 p.m.
