Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Rolls Past Neumann, 3-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Volleyball team used a complete performance to earn a dominant 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-13) win over Neumann in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Helfferich Hall.
 
 
With the win, the Bears improved to 6-13 overall and the Knights fell to 10-11 overall.
 
 
First-year Lauren McGinn led with a game-high nine kills on a .474 hitting percentage along with tallying eight digs. Senior Mel Eglinton tallied eight kills and six digs while classmate Reena Robinson matched with eight kills and four digs. Senior Erin Dychdala paced the offense with 23 assists and junior Alexa Mazzeo led the Bears with 10 digs.
 
 
The Bears started red hot in the first set by winning the first four points and extended their early lead to 7-1. Ursinus stayed in control and did not allow the Knights to close within more than four points in the rest of the set. The Bears extended their lead to 13-6 and fended off a four straight points from Neumann with six of their own to go up 19-9. Ursinus won three of the last four points to close out the set after the Knights got within six points at 21-15.
 
 
Neumann gained the upper hand early in the second set by initially going up 3-1. The Bears won six of the next seven points after trailing 5-3 to go up 9-6 before winning five of six points after Neumann made it 9-8 that left them with a 14-9 advantage. Ursinus went up 16-11 until the Knights got within two points at 16-14. The Bears responded by taking six of the next eight points to go up 22-16 and fended off Neumann winning five of seven points with a kill by McGinn for the 25th point.
 
 
It was all Bears in the third set as they won the first five points of the set before maintaining their lead out to 9-3. Ursinus blew open the set by winning six straight points after the Knights won back-to-back points to go up 15-5 and extended it to as many as 11 points at 19-8. The Bears cruised from there as they did not let their lead fall below eight points. Ursinus hit .324 in the third set and held the Knights to hit just .028 for the entire match.
 
 
Ursinus returns to action on Friday, October 24th as they will travel to face Bryn Mawr at 7:00 p.m.
