Volleyball Powers Past Bryn Mawr in Straight Sets

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Volleyball team won its second match this week in dominant fashion, this time a straight-set romp over Bryn Mawr (25-15, 25-12, 25-9) on Friday night.
 
 
Senior Mel Eglinton led the Bears with a match-high 10 kills on a .474 hitting percentage while adding five digs. Senior Reena Robinson posted eight kills and first-year Lauren McGinn totaled five kills, six digs, and three aces. Senior Erin Dychdala posted match highs of 15 assists and six aces while tallying five digs and sophomore Molly Stevenson recorded a career-high five aces.
 
 
The Bears jumped out to a 4-1 lead to open the first set before the Owls won five of the next six points to go up 6-5. Ursinus responded by winning nine of the next 11 points to go up 14-8. After three straight Bryn Mawr points made it a 14-11 set, the Bears took control by winning six straight points to go up 20-11. Ursinus went up by as many as 11 points at 23-12 before closing the set out.
 
 
Ursinus started strong again by taking an early 5-2 advantage in the second set and eventually went up 7-4. Bryn Mawr won three of four points to cut the deficit to 8-7, but the Bears stormed ahead with eight straight points to go up 16-7. Ursinus continued to pull away as they went up 22-10 and won the set by 13 points which was the highest margin of the set.
 
 
The Bears found themselves tied at five early in the third set before winning 11 of the next 13 points to go up 16-7. Ursinus won nine of the next 11 points to hold the Owls in single digit points and closed the match out in resounding fashion by holding them to a -2.86 hitting percentage.
 
 
Ursinus returns to action on Wednesday, October 29th as they will travel to face Franklin & Marshall at 7:00 p.m.
