DALLAS, Pa. – The Ursinus women's wrestling team totaled 11 place-winners en route to a strong showing at Misericordia's Cougar Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears produced six finalists and two champions, as sophomore
Olivia Guy (110) and junior
Stacy Bloomfield (131) each earned individual titles. Junior
Mandy Gavares (103), first-year
Aubree Butler (110), senior
Kalli Roskos (124), and junior
Emma Matera (160) all recorded runner-up finishes.
In the 110-pound bracket, Guy opened with an 11-0 victory over Eastern's Ana Morales before pinning York's Dalsey Hawkins in 45 seconds in her second match. She then pinned Butler in 42 seconds and defeated Arcadia's Madison Ridner in 22 seconds to secure her title. Butler finished second in the weight class behind two victories by fall and a 12-0 win over Hawkins of York College.
Bloomfield finished a perfect 2-0 at 131 pounds to claim her championship. She opened with a 15-0 victory by superiority over Delaware Valley's Eva Herrera before closing out her tournament with a win by injury default.
At 103 pounds, Gavares delivered a standout performance, going 4-1 to place second. She opened with a 32-second fall over Wilkes' Gabriela Vasquez and added a 10-0 victory against Arcadia's Samantha Larkin. After advancing via injury default, Gavares reached the finals with a 46-second, 10-0 superiority win over York's Mackenzie Smith before falling 8-6 to Eastern's Jesenia Camargo.
Roskos went 2-1 at 124 pounds to finish as runner-up. She began with a 10-0 victory over York's Grace O'Neil and then defeated teammate
Ashley Diaz by a 2-0 score in the semifinals. In the championship, Roskos dropped an 11-0 decision to Eastern's Savannah Witt.
In the 160-pound bracket, Matera posted a 3-1 record to place second. She opened with a win by points over Arcadia's Eve Kurtz, then pinned York's Ashley Knapp at 5:05. Matera added a 6-2 decision over first-year
Charlotte Bowman before falling by fall in the final against York's Kylie Monroe.

Ashley Diaz (124), junior
Paisley Fox (138), and first-year
Jurelys Peguero Del Rosario (180) each earned third-place finishes. First-year
Kloi Tighe (124) and junior
Gianna Perez (180) added fourth-place efforts for Ursinus.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Dec. 6, as they compete at the New Standard Invitational hosted by York College.
