Charlesworth and Gavares Compete at NCAA Championships

CORALVILLE, Iowa – Juniors Cloe Charlesworth and Mandy Gavares led the Ursinus women's wrestling team while competing at the NCAA Women's Wrestling Championships on Friday at Xtream Arena.

 
Charlesworth finished with a 1-2 record in her second consecutive championship appearance at 145 pounds. The Burke, Virginia, native opened with a 10-0 victory by technical superiority over Sacred Heart's Selena Sifuentes Shaffer. She tallied five takedowns in the opening period to earn the victory and advance to the next round.

 
Against eighth-seeded Madeline Kubicki of Presbyterian College, Charlesworth faced an early 4-0 deficit with two minutes remaining in the first period. She converted on a four-point maneuver to tie the contest at four, but Kubicki countered the move, resulting in a fall at the 2:01 mark. In her final bout, Charlesworth fell by an 11-0 decision to Nichole Moore of Fort Hays State to conclude her tournament. Charlesworth ends her junior season with a 27-9 overall record and became the Bears' first two-time regional champion.

 
Gavares finished with an 0-2 record at 103 pounds in her second straight national championship appearance. The Matawan, New Jersey, native fell by fall at the 1:03 mark against Presbyterian's Sloane Kruger. In her final bout, Gavares fell by fall to Chadron State's Brianna Vollendroff, ending her junior season. She concludes the year with a 25-10 record and earned a runner-up finish at the Region II Championships.

 
Ursinus closes out the 2025-26 season with a 12-5 dual meet record and a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Region II Championships.
