Muhlenberg opened the first set going up 3-1 and maintained their early lead out to 5-3. Ursinus won three straight points to take their first lead at 6-5 before the Mules responded by taking six of the next eight points to go up 11-8. However, the Bears got red hot and won 11 of the next 13 points behind six straight to start the run and went up 19-13 with eight of the points coming from kills. Ursinus continued to add on and went up by as many as seven points at 24-17 before winning set one 25-19.

The Mules set the tone early in the second set by grabbing a 6-1 lead and extended their advantage out to 11-5 behind strong hitting. Ursinus pulled within five points at 12-7 before the Mules won four of the next five to go up 16-8. The Bears made one last run by taking seven of the next 11 points to pull within five at 20-15, but the Mules closed out the set by taking five of the last six including the final four points.

Ursinus won the first three points of the third set before the Mules won five of the next six points to go up 5-4. The Bears responded by taking three of the next four points to go up 7-6 to have the Mules respond by taking five of the next six points and went up 11-8. Ursinus won six of the next eight points to continue the theme of runs in the third set to go up 14-13 and the Mules followed by taking five of the next six to go back up 18-15. The Mules went up 22-19 to only have the Bears take four straight points and go up 23-22 behind all four being kills with three coming from Eglinton. Muhlenberg tied the set at 23, but Eglinton and Dobbins-Timochenko connected on back-to-back kills to steal the third set for Ursinus.

After the Mules won the first two points of the fourth set, the Bears won four straight points and followed by taking three of the next four points to go up 7-4. Ursinus went up 9-5 and maintained at least a three-point advantage for the next few points after initially not allowing the Mules to get back-to-back points. The Bears broke through the back-and-forth action by winning four of five points to go up 17-11 and forcing a Mules timeout. However, Muhlenberg ripped off six straight points to tie the set at 17 and force a Bears timeout. The Bears came out of the timeout and seized control of the set and match by taking six of the next eight points to go up 23-19. Eglinton and Couch ended the match with back-to-back kills following a Muhlenberg point.
