Men's Basketball Cruises Past FDU-Florham, 93-77

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Basketball used a dominant first half to roll past FDU-Florham 93-77 on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Helfferich Hall.
 
 
Ursinus had five players in double figures for scoring led by sophomore Jamie Murphy with 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. Murphy also posted four rebounds plus one steal and senior Mohamed Toure added 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting with three rebounds. A pair of first-years in Tomas Belaiter and Trevor Toulson combined for 23 points off the bench and 11-of-12 shooting. Belaiter scored 13 of those points off 6-of-7 shooting and Toulson tallied 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting. Junior Luke Nieman was the fifth Bear in double-figures with 11 points.
 
 
The Bears trailed just once in the game, and it was when the Devils opened the game with a three-pointer on the opening possession. Ursinus ran off 14 straight points to go up 14-3 at the 15:11-mark of the first half and extended their lead to 14 at 20-6 with 12:56 left in the first half. The Bears continued to pour it on early as they used a 14-6 burst to go up 34-12 at the 7:45-mark of the first half and astoundingly hit a 31-point advantage at 47-16 with 1:57 left following a three-pointer from Belaiter. Nieman capped the first half with a three-pointer of his own at the 15-second mark to give Ursinus a 52-21 advantage at halftime.
 
 
Ursinus picked up where they left off in the second half by continuing to hold their hefty margin. They took their largest lead of the game at 67-28 with 14:54 left in the second half and held a 30-point margin until just under seven minutes left in regulation.
 
 
The Bears shot 48.5 percent (33-of-68) from the field behind a sizzling 61.3 percent in the first half and shot 26.7 percent (8-of-30) from three-point range after going 6-of-14 (42.9%) in the first half. Ursinus went just 19-of-30 (63.3%) from the free throw line and held a 44-30 rebounding advantage which led to a whopping 21-3 second chance point advantage. Meanwhile, the Devils shot 53.2 percent (25-of-47) from the field behind a 75 percent second half that came in the final five minutes of the game. The Devils went 9-of-19 (47.4%) from three-point range and just 56.3 percent (18-of-32) from the free throw line.
 
 
Ursinus returns to action on Monday, December 8th as they will host Rosemont in their final home game of the 2025 calendar year at 7:30 p.m.
