COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Director of Athletics Erin Stroble—a devoted member of the Ursinus community—celebrates over two decades of service to Ursinus that will conclude at the end of the calendar year. Marqus Hunter, associate athletic director for compliance and student athlete services, will serve as interim athletic director.
Stroble's impact on Ursinus has been both meaningful and enduring. A Hall of Famer whose own student experience was shaped on the lacrosse field; she returned to her alma mater with a deep commitment to the holistic development of Ursinus student-athletes. Stroble was head coach of the women's lacrosse team from 2004-2011, before becoming associate athletic director for 12 years. Ultimately, she was appointed director of athletics in 2022. In that role, she has led Ursinus coaches and staff with distinctive care, ensuring that the athletic experience reflects the same academic rigor, integrity, and sense of belonging that define the college's broader educational mission.
"My 21.5 years working at Ursinus have been so rewarding, and that is primarily due to the relationships I have built, and our shared focus on the student-athlete experience," Stroble said. "I have had a tremendous experience at Ursinus as a student and as a professional. I am extremely thankful for Ursinus College and all my colleagues over the years for their support and collaboration."
Most recently, Stroble led the renovations of the Patterson track and field and installation of a new video scoreboard, in addition to upgrades to Helfferich Hall and the tennis courts. Additionally, Ursinus completed multiple sports locker room upgrades, the renovation of the William B. Racich Hall of Fame for Athletes, and updates to the fitness center under her leadership. As associate athletic director, Stroble oversaw practice, game, and facility scheduling, NCAA compliance, and academic monitoring. She also served as senior woman administrator and represented Ursinus College at the Centennial Conference and NCAA levels.
As head coach of the Ursinus women's lacrosse team, Stroble compiled an overall record of 63–55, including a 40–23 mark in the Centennial Conference, and was named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in 2010. During her tenure, she coached 22 All-Centennial Conference selections, including nine first-team honorees.
Stroble is a 2002 graduate of Ursinus College, where she was a standout lacrosse player. As a student-athlete, she became the first woman in Ursinus history to be named First Team All-American and First Team Academic All-American. During her senior season, she was named Centennial Conference Player of the Year and became the first player in Ursinus women's lacrosse history to score 200 career goals. She still holds school career records for goals (205), points (284), ground balls (207), and caused turnovers (100). Stroble was inducted into the Ursinus College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
"I am grateful for Erin's leadership and her unwavering devotion to Ursinus College," said Interim President Gundolf Graml. "Across more than two decades, she has shaped the lives of countless student-athletes with her integrity, her compassion, and her deep belief in the power of education through sport. We wish her the very best and thank her for elevating Ursinus athletics."
Hunter joined Ursinus in the summer of 2018 after serving in student-athlete enrichment services at Columbia University from 2015-2018. Prior to Columbia, Hunter served in a variety of capacities at Muhlenberg College from 2011-2015. At Muhlenberg, Hunter served as an assistant men's basketball coach, coordinator for athletic diversity initiatives, multicultural program director, and as an assistant to the athletic director.
