COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team opened the 2025 season with a 17-9 setback to Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon at Patterson Field.
The Bears opened the game by taking advantage of a man-up opportunity at the 13:10-mark of the first quarter when junior
Harry Sweitzer scored after getting a feed from junior
Barrett Denlinger. The Yellow Jackets countered just under two minutes later to tie the game and took their first lead with a goal at the 4:39-mark. Randolph-Macon added to its lead at the 12:43-mark of the second quarter to make it 3-1 before junior
Aidan Kirk converted on the second Bears man-up opportunity of the day just 44 seconds later that made it 3-2. The Yellow Jackets cashed in from a Bears penalty to go up 4-2 but senior
Christopher Pucciarelli answered to make it 4-3 at the 5:43-mark. However, the Yellow Jackets added back-to-back goals in a span of 25 seconds that made it 6-3 with 5:11 left in the first half. Sweitzer cut the lead down to 6-4 at the 3:57-mark to only be answered again by another Randolph-Macon goal just 1:10 later.
Randolph-Macon seized control of the game by scoring the first four goals of the third quarter behind winning the first five face offs of the second half to go up 11-4. Junior
Chris Bryant ended the run with a goal at the 7:36-mark, but the Yellow Jackets built on their lead with five straight goals to go up 16-5 at the 13:08-mark of the fourth quarter. Ursinus added a trio of goals down the stretch from juniors

The Yellow Jackets held a 45-33 shot advantage for the game and a 23-17 edge in shots on goal. Randolph-Macon held a 48-34 advantage in ground balls behind a 22-8 advantage at the face off X. Pucciarelli and Sweitzer each tallied two goals for the Bears while sophomore
Jared Laskin dished out a pair of assists.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, February 19th as they will travel to face Western Connecticut State at 4:00 p.m.
