GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team was bested 20-10 by No. 9 Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
Gettysburg scored the first four goals of the game in the first quarter to go up 4-0 at the 8:01-mark of the first quarter. The Bears tallied back-to-back scores to get within 4-2 of the Bullets at the 14:00-mark of the second quarter. Junior
Lars Homan got the Bears on the board at the 2:13-mark of the first quarter before senior
Christopher Pucciarelli tallied the second in the first minute of the second quarter. However, the Bullets responded with four straight goals again to go up 8-2 at the 8:19-mark of the second quarter before junior
Harry Sweitzer ended the run with a goal at the 7:43-mark. Sweitzer ended a multi-goal Gettysburg run with a goal at the 2:11-mark of the second quarter that sent the game to half at 11-4. The Bullets scored three straight goals to open the second half and sophomore
Daniel Kupiec ended that run with a goal of his own at the 7:29-mark. Junior
Barrett Denlinger and Sweitzer tallied back-to-back goals to end the third quarter to bring the score to 16-7 entering the fourth. Homan, Kupiec, and Sweitzer all added one goal apiece late in the fourth quarter.
The Bullets held a 54-31 shot advantage for the game and a 31-17 edge in shots on goal. Gettysburg held a 38-28 advantage in ground balls and 19-14 in faceoffs. Sweitzer matched his career high of six points behind scoring four goals and dishing out two assists. Homan recorded three points on two goals and one assist while Kupiec notched two goals plus Denlinger adding two points off a goal and assist.
Ursinus returns to action on Wednesday, April 16th as they will travel to face Muhlenberg at 7:00 p.m.
