CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Softball team picked up a key Centennial Conference doubleheader sweep over Dickinson on Sunday afternoon. The Bears shut out the Red Devils 5-0 in game one before taking game two 6-2.
With the sweep, the Bears improved to 16-15 overall and 4-6 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Red Devils fell to 13-17 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
Ursinus jumped on the board right off the start in game one with a run in the top of the first to gain the early 1-0 lead. Senior

Anna Evanchik went wide of the bag. In the fourth inning, the Bears left the bases loaded with two outs and the Red Devils could not convert on a first and second situation with one out. Ursinus took advantage of a fielding error with two outs in the top of the sixth that scored two runners on the basepaths and extended its lead to 3-0. The Bears added two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh behind back-to-back two-out RBI singles from senior
Rachel Hartman and Mallen. Junior pitcher
Christa Andrusiewicz completed her first complete game shutout by working around a leadoff single.
After two scoreless innings to start, the Bears scored a pair of runs in the top of the third off a pair of hits to take a 2-0 lead. Evanchik drew a walk with two outs to keep the inning going and junior
Kayla Carr doubled her in for the first run. First-year
Reagan Robinson followed with a single in the next at-bat to score Carr. The Bears loaded the bases in the top of the fifth with two outs to set the stage for junior
Keelie Hancock to hit her second grand slam of the season that blew the game open at 6-0. Hancock hit her first grand slam against Haverford back on April 1st. First-year
Lucy Wolf finished a complete game as well in a dominant pitching day for the Bears, allowing one run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.
Mallen had a big day at the plate in the doubleheader by combining to go 5-for-9 with three runs scored, two stolen bases in game one, and one RBI. Robinson went 2-for-4 in game two with an RBI and run scored in game two and Hancock had hits in each game with her four RBI's coming in game two with the grand slam.
