GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College baseball team was swept in a Centennial Conference doubleheader against No. 21 Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon at Kirchhoff Field, falling 10-0 and 7-1.
With the losses, Ursinus dropped to 17-16 overall and 4-9 in conference play. Gettysburg improved to 26-9 overall and 5-8 in the Centennial. Senior
Jude Gilhool led the Bears' offense with a hit in each game of the doubleheader.

Ursinus put two runners on base in the top of the first inning with hits by senior
Andrew Richter and Gilhool. However, the rally ended with an infield popup. Gettysburg responded with five runs in the bottom half, sparked by a one-out triple. The Bullets capitalized on three walks and three singles to take a 5-0 lead.
Both pitching staffs worked through the second inning without damage, but Gettysburg tacked on two more runs in the third with a two-out single, making it 7-0. In the fourth, Cantor singled with one out and advanced to second on a fielding error by the center fielder. However, a groundout and strikeout stranded him at third.
Gettysburg pushed across three more runs in the fifth, benefiting from one hit and two defensive errors. Junior
Mitchell Garber singled for Ursinus in the sixth, but the Bears were held scoreless
over the final two innings, falling 10-0.

Ursinus struck first in the top of the first. Sophomore
Brandon Sullivan led off with a single but was thrown out attempting to steal second. After a walk by Richter and a single by Gilhool, a wild pitch advanced both runners. Richter scored on a second wild pitch, giving the Bears a 1-0 lead.
Gettysburg answered in the bottom of the second. A leadoff double and one-out single tied the game at 1-1, but a 6-3 double play ended the threat. The Bears looked to regain the lead in the third, but after senior
Peter Balos worked a two-out walk, a strikeout ended the inning.
Gettysburg took a 3-1 lead in the fifth with a one-out double, a single, and another extra-base hit. Ursinus threatened in the seventh when senior
Jordan Williams reached on a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. However, a foul out and strikeout stalled the rally, and a groundout stranded him in scoring position.
The Bullets added four runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 7-1. Three singles, an intentional walk, and a passed ball helped fuel the rally.
Ursinus was unable to mount a comeback over the final two innings as Gettysburg completed the doubleheader sweep.
The Bears return to action on Monday, April 21, when they take on DeSales University. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
