HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Track & Field team competed in some midweek action on Tuesday at the Haverford Tri-Meet.
The meet featured the Bears, host Fords, and Widener along with some select athletes from Swarthmore as they began their tune-up for the upcoming Penn Relays and Centennial Conference Championships.
Junior
Veronica Filippone won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.80 and led the Bears in the 200 meters in fifth with her time of 30.00. Junior
Corrine Martello was sixth in the 200 after crossing the line at 30.32.
First-year
Aubrey Myers posted a top-10 in the 800 meters behind a time of 2:34.45 to finish eighth overall. Senior
Candace Hudson led five Bears in the 1,500 meters in second with her time of 5:31.46. First-years
Elizabeth Dill,
Julianna Mullen, and
Lindsay Solomon finished fifth through seventh with times of 5:45.86, 5:46.90, and 5:48.86, respectively. First-year
Nicole Parisi rounded out the top-10 with her time of 6:16.46.
In throws, sophomore
Hannah Quinn posted a pair of second place finishes in the hammer throw and discus. Quinn posted a mark of 34.43 in the discus and 38.79 in the hammer. Classmate
Randi Wood was third in both events with marks of 32.55 meters in the discus and 23.03 meters in the hammer. Wood finished second in the shot put at 10.00 meters and was followed by first-year
Kamarah Jones in third at 9.89 meters. Quinn was fourth at 9.83 meters and sophomore
Talia Jones was fifth at 9.53 meters. Martello (6.93 meters) and Filippone (5.75 meters) finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth place.
First-year
Haley Lenker finished second in the pole vault at 2.50 meters and juniors
Rhiannon Okuniewski was second in the triple jump at 10.13 meters while classmate
Lily Nagy was third at 9.73 meters.
The Bears return to action on Friday, April 25th as they will see select athletes compete in the 129th annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field.
