LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus women's lacrosse team fell to No. 6 Franklin & Marshall, 21-4, on Wednesday evening at Shadek Stadium.
With the loss, Ursinus dropped to 6-10 overall and 2-5 in Centennial Conference play. The Diplomats improved to 14-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference action. Senior

The Bears took an early 1-0 lead at the 12:49 mark when junior
Meghan Vizian connected with sophomore
Dana DeSiato. Vizian's pass deflected off a defender and found DeSiato in front of the goal, where she converted the one-on-one opportunity for her 13th goal of the season. The Ursinus defense held Franklin & Marshall in check until the Diplomats tied the game at 1-1 at the 6:51 mark. They then added two quick goals over the next four minutes. Ashley Noto found Child cutting across the crease, and her off-balance shot found the back of the net.
Franklin & Marshall opened the second quarter with three straight goals to go up 6-2, prompting a timeout by Ursinus. The Diplomats tacked on two more scores to stretch the lead to 8-2 before the Bears responded with back-to-back goals. Child tallied her second of the night off a DeSiato assist, and sophomore
Ryann Buchner followed with her first of the game. On Buchner's goal, she received a pass at the top of the arc and beat her defender with a bouncing shot.The Diplomats closed out the half with two goals off free-position attempts to take a 10-4 lead at the break.
Franklin & Marshall added three goals early in the third quarter to go up 13-4, then finished the frame on a 3-0 run to lead 16-4 heading into the final period. Ursinus had two scoring chances early in the fourth but missed both wide of the net. The Diplomats continued their dominant offensive performance, outscoring the Bears 5-0 in the quarter to seal the 21-4 victory.
Franklin & Marshall held a 39-13 advantage in shots, a 15-12 edge in ground balls, and a 21-7 lead in draw controls. Ursinus cleared 11 of 15 attempts (73.3%), while the Diplomats converted on 94.1% of their clears. Junior goalkeeper
Susie Miller took the loss, recording four saves in 42 minutes. Sara Digiovanni earned the win for Franklin & Marshall, stopping two shots in 55 minutes.
Ursinus returns to action Saturday, April 26, when it hosts McDaniel College for Senior Day at noon.
