COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team dropped a 17-7 contest to No. 18 Swarthmore on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference action.

Christopher Pucciarelli opened the scoring 52 seconds into the game to put the Bears up 1-0. Swarthmore notched back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead at the 9:56-mark before junior
Barrett Denlinger tied the game at two at the 6:49-mark after firing a ball into an empty net following a Garnet turnover from a clear attempt. However, the Garnet took back the lead with a goal with 59 seconds left in the first quarter to go up 3-2 which started an eight goal run that eventually put them up 10-2 at the 1:09-mark of the second quarter. Harry Sweitzer ended the Bears 21:19 minute scoring drought with a goal at the 26-second mark of the second quarter. The Garnet scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to go up 14-3 and Sweitzer once again ended the run with a goal in the final minute of the quarter. Daniel Rice scored his first goal of the game at the 6:41-mark before Sweitzer added two more to end the game.
The Garnet held a 42-36 shot advantage for the game and a 27-23 edge in shots on goal. Swarthmore held a slight 36-34 advantage in ground balls and 16-12 in faceoffs. Sweitzer led the Bears with four goals while Pucciarelli, Denlinger, and Rice all added one.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, April 12th as they will travel to face No. 9 Gettysburg at 12:00 p.m.
