COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis concluded action in the first Ursinus Invitational on Saturday at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
The Bears wrapped up the two-day invitational with second rounds with Albright, Arcadia, and Alvernia competing in head-to-head matches.
In doubles action, junior
Deniz Finkel and sophomore
Russell Nour earned a 6-3 win over Kevin McHale and Luis Figueiredo 6-3 and senior
Andrei Bogdan and
Bogdan Maksimovic defeated Leo DuPont and Stas Bazarov 6-1. Sophomores
Charles DiCicco and
Devin Carter downed Jason Small of Arcadia and first-year
Jacob Ohrin 6-0 while juniors
Noah Dichter and
Teddy Snyder lost 6-4 to Aaron Allen and Bernardo Figueiredo. First-years
Pierce Rohlfing and
James Fassbender dropped a 6-3 match to Karim Fattal and Nikolai Damman of Albright.
The Bears split singles matches with Alvernia and Albright and won all five singles matches against the Golden Wolves. Snyder downed Luke Brisbois 6-0, 6-1 and Finkel defeated Lucas Montello 6-1, 6-3. Bogdan swept past Troy O'Malley 6-0, 6-0 and Nour downed Andrew Kao 6-0, 6-3. Dichter capped the singles matches with Alvernia with a 5-0 win over Duncan McDowell. In the first round of singles with Albright, DiCicco lost 0-6, 3-6 to Fattal and Maksimovic dropped a 0-6, 4-6 match to Matias Contreras. Carter then dropped a 1-6, 1-6 match to Marcelo Menchaca.
In the second round of singles with Albright, Finkel bested Fattal 8-6 and Snyder dropped a tough 8-6 match to Contreras. Nour outlasted Menchaca 9-8 (7-4) and Bogdan fell 8-5 to Enrico Pucci. DiCicco defeated Huha 8-5 and Maksimovic earned a win via forfeit. Fassbender defeated Leo Russo 8-4 and Carter defeated Charles Coleman 8-2. Rohlfing lost Damman 8-1 and Ohrin lost a tough 9-7 match to Gavin Buckley.
Ursinus returns to action on Thursday, October 2
nd as they will compete at the ITA Southeast Regionals at Mary Washington.
