ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Eastern on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the tie, the Bears record moves to 1-2-2 overall and the Eagles move to 1-3-1 overall after two weeks of the season.
Ursinus controlled play early and got three shots off in the first 20 minutes with the best chance coming in the sixth minute when first-year
Sean McFadden had low shot saved. First-year
Eliot Bowen had a corner kick knocked away in the box in the 31
st minute before classmate
Nathan Kinzel had a long shot saved in the 38
th minute. Bowen sent a high crossing pass that was punched away by the Eagles keeper in the last minute of the first half. Senior
Enver Desic had a low shot saved in the 49
th minute and the Eagles had their first shot reach the Bears net in the 57
th minute that was saved. Junior
Declan Curran sent a tricky shot through traffic in the 84
th minute that was saved. Desic sent a shot wide left of the Eagles net with 1:27 left in regulation that turned out to be the Bears last shot of the game.
The Bears held a slight 14-12 shot advantage for the game while the Bears held a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Ursinus had an 6-2 advantage in corner kicks as well. Junior goalkeeper
Josiah Moore made two saves in the 90 minutes while Ty Bleiler made seven saves for Eastern in the full time.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, September 20
th as they will host No. 10 Dickinson for their home and Centennial Conference opener at 12:00 p.m.
