Women's Soccer Takes on Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Ursinus Women's Soccer team saw an early two-goal lead slip away as Haverford rallied to beat the Bears 3-2 on Wednesday evening in Centennial Conference play.

Ursinus controlled play early in the first half as they drew four corner kicks in just over a two-minute span. The pressure finally paid off when the Bears were awarded a penalty kick in the 29th minute and junior Gwyn Krystkiewicz succesfully converted it to a goal to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Senior Alicia page extended the Bears lead to 2-0 in the 38th minute when she knocked in a second chance opportunity after an an initial shot from first-year Lily Ballard. However, the game completely flipped in the second half as the Fords initially scored two goals in the first 3:10 to tie the game at two. Haverford then knocked in its third goal in the 60th minute.

The Fords held a 12-8 shot advantage behind a sizable 7-1 edge in the second half and an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal. Each team received five corner kicks. Bears junior goalkeeper Alyssa Marraffino made four saves in the full 90 minutes.

The Bears return to action on Saturday, September 27th as they will travel to face McDaniel at 12:00 p.m.
