CARLISLE, Pa. – A late fourth quarter goal sunk Ursinus Field Hockey 1-0 on the road at Dickinson on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
Dickinson controlled play for most of the first quarter and had a pair of shots saved to keep the game scoreless after 15 minutes. The Red Devils nearly got on the board following a penalty corner in the 22
nd minute, but senior defender
Lauren Sieczkowski kept the ball out. Ursinus had its first shot of the game in the 27
th minute from a corner by junior
Rachel Fosbenner that was saved. Ursinus came out strong to start the third quarter and had a shot by junior
Ava Mikulski saved and another shot went wide following a penalty corner. Sophomore
Bianca Hessler had another shot saved in the 41
st minute and the Bears held the Red Devils to just one shot in the third quarter. The Bears initially carried momentum from the third quarter into the fourth quarter but had a pair of shots saved from corners. Dickinson converted the lone goal of the game on their first shot on the cage in the second half with 2:12 left in regulation.
The Red Devils held an 11-7 shot advantage for the game behind an 8-1 advantage in the first half. Dickinson held a slight 6-5 advantage in shots on goal and each team received seven corners. Senior goalkeeper Adrianna Palladinetti made four saves in the full 60 minutes.
