Volleyball Bested by Swarthmore

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Volleyball team dropped a straight-set (25-15, 25-9, 25-13) match to Swarthmore in their Centennial Conference opener on Tuesday night at Helfferich Hall.
 
 
Senior Mel Eglinton led the Bears with six kills while adding five digs. Senior Erin Dychdala paced the Bears with 11 assists while adding two digs and a kill.
 
 
Ursinus took a 3-2 lead in the first set before the Garnet won four straight points to go up 6-3. The Bears won three straight points to tie the set at six, but Swarthmore took control of the set by winning 10 of the next 13 points to go up 16-9. The Garnet continued to pull away and the Bears only got as close as eight points at 23-15 in the rest of the set. Swarthmore came out red-hot in the second set by winning the first six points and led by as many as 16 points at 20-4. After closing out the set at 25-9, Swarthmore once again started out by going up 7-1 in the third set. The Bears pulled within four points at 8-4 before the Garnet won 10 of the next 12 points to go up 18-6. Swarthmore closed the match out by winning the third set 25-13.
 
 
 
The Bears return to action on Saturday, October 4th as they will travel to face Dickinson at 1:00 p.m.
