WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Lycoming on Saturday evening in non-conference action.
With the tie, the Bears record moves to 0-0-1 overall and the Warriors move to 0-2-2 overall after two weeks of the season.
Ursinus controlled play early and got four shots off in the first 20 minutes, but none of them made it on goal. Lycoming got its first shot off in the 28th minute that went left and had a second one two minutes later find the same fate. First-year
Eliot Bowen recorded the games first shot on goal in the 63rd minute and had it saved to keep the game scoreless. First-year
Nicholas Grippa had a shot saved minutes later after a decent look on the net. Grippa then sent a shot that was knocked away in the top left corner of the net in the 80th minute. Lycoming made a final push in the last six minutes of regulation but Bears junior goalkeeper
Josiah Moore held strong and made all three saves to preserve the tie.
The Warriors held a slight 10-9 shot advantage for the game while the Bears held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. Lycoming held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks as well. Moore made three saves in the 90 minutes while Jace Bennett made four saves for Lycoming in the full time.
Ursinus returns to action on Friday, September 12th as they will travel to face Gwynedd Mercy at 7:00 p.m.
