CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team earned a 16-8 win over DeSales on Friday night behind a big second half in non-conference action.
The win was the second straight for the Bears while the Bulldogs fall to 0-4 overall.
The Bears scored on their opening possession of the game when senior
Lars Homan scored off a feed from junior
Jared Laskin for the first lead of the game. DeSales responded with two quick goals to take a 2-1 lead before Ursinus countered with four straight to go up 5-2 in the opening minute of the second quarter. Senior
Barrett Denlinger opened the run at the 5:28-mark before Rice followed three minutes later with his first tally of the game. Senior
Aidan Kirk scored with just over a minute left in the first quarter and Denlinger capped the run with his second of the game. The Bulldogs pulled within one goal with back-to-back goals at 5-4 with 10 minutes left in the second quarter, but the Bears ran off another four-goal run to go up 9-4 at the 4:02-mark. Harry Sweitzer got on the scoresheet just under two minutes later. Laskin netted his first after recording a trio of assists and Sweitzer finished off the run with his second goal.
After DeSales seemed to gain some momentum with the final two goals of the first half that made it 9-6, the Bears ultimately put the game away by shutting out the Bulldogs in the third quarter and going on their third four-goal run. Denlinger struck on the Bears opening possession and Rice added his second at the 12:52-mark. Junior

Daniel Kupiec capped the run with a goal in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. Sweitzer and Kirk added their third goals of the game, respectively, that extended the Bears lead to 15-7 and sophomore
Derek Cooper finished off the Bears scoring with 7:21 left in the fourth quarter that made it 16-7.
The Bears held a 46-31 shot advantage for the game and a 27-15 advantage in shots on goal. Ursinus held a 33-25 advantage in ground balls and held a 17-11 edge in faceoff wins. Sophomore goalkeeper
Colin Daroch made seven saves to earn the win for the Bears while Christopher Andersen made 11 saves in the loss for DeSales. Laskin led the Bears with five points behind four assists and one goal while Kirk, Denlinger, and Sweitzer all posted three goals. Rice recorded four points on two goals and two assists and Homan tallied three points on two assists and one goal.
Ursinus returns to action on Friday, March 6th as they will host Kean for their home opener at 7:00 p.m.
