Men's Lacrosse Hosts Washington College

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus men's lacrosse team wrapped up a four-game homestand by taking on Washington College on Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference play at Patterson Field.
 
 
The Bears opened the game strong with back-to-back goals to take the early 2-0 lead at the 9:00-minute mark. Junior Nick Pomajevich opened the scoring at the 10:45-mark with a fast break goal and classmate Nick Fareno followed 1:45 later. However, the Shoremen quickly ripped off four straight goals in a 4:05 span to go up 4-2 at the 4:48-mark of the first quarter. Sophomore Macky Bonner connected with a goal to make it 4-3 following a Shoremen turnover at the 3:58-mark until the Shoremen beat the horn with a goal to go up 5-3 into the second quarter. The goal started another four-goal run that gave Washington College an 8-3 lead at the 9:45-mark. Sophomore Daniel Rice ended the Shoremen run with a goal that made it 8-4 only to be countered by two more goals that made it 10-4 at the half. The Bears cut the lead down to 10-6 at the 11:41-mark following goals by senior Lars Homan and Pomajevich that were once again answered by consecutive Shoremen goals that made it 12-6 at the 8:39-mark. Junior Daniel Kupiec and Homan made it 12-8 with back-to-back goals at the 14:26-mark of the fourth quarter before the Shoremen put the game away with three straight goals. Senior Nicholas Grahame capped the games scoring with a goal that made it 15-9.
 
 
The Shoremen held a 40-35 shot advantage and a 24-20 advantage in shots on goal. Washington College held a slight 38-34 edge in ground balls and a 15-12 advantage in faceoff wins after holding a 12-3 advantage in the first half. Bears sophomore goalkeeper Colin Daroch made three saves in 20:15 before being replaced by classmate Zach Lewis, who made six saves in 39:45. Keegan Dunn made 11 saves for the Shoremen in the full 60 minutes. Pomajevich and Homan tallied two goals apiece while Grahame tallied two points off a goal and assist while grabbing a career-high eight ground balls plus causing three turnovers.
 
 
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, March 28th as they will travel to face Haverford at 12:00 p.m.
