Women's Lacrosse Bested by No. 15 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – The Ursinus Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 16-7 decision to No. 15 TCNJ on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
 
 
Senior Meghan Vizian got the scoring started with a Fastbreak goal at the 12:39-mark of the first quarter that gave the Bears a 1-0 lead. However, the Lions ripped off five straight goals to go up 5-1 at the 3:48-mark. Ursinus worked their way back into the game late in the first quarter when they got back-to-back goals to make it 5-3 at the 2:41-mark. Junior Whitney Hershey scored the first goal in the run before senior Ashley Noto followed just 36 seconds later. The Lions got a free position shot goal with 40 seconds left in the first quarter which started a run of five straight goals that put TCNJ up 10-3 at the half. TCNJ outscored the Bears 4-0 in the second quarter with the first three goals being free position shots.
 
 
Vizian ended the Lions run at the 13:07-mark with her second goal of the game to make it 10-4, but the Lions came right back with two goals to go up 12-4. Ursinus got back-to-back goals to get within 12-6 at 3:36-mark as Hershey and Noto tallied their second goals of the game. The Lions ran off four straight goals to go up 16-6 for their largest lead of the game before Hershey closed the game with her third of the game.
 
 
The Lions held a 25-22 shot advantage for the game and a 17-14 edge in shots on goal. TCNJ held a slight 23-19 advantage in ground balls and the Bears held a sizable 16-8 advantage in draw control wins. However, the Bears went just 12-of-22 in clears while the Lions were 4-for-5 in free position shots. A pair of Bears goalkeepers split time as first-year Addi Guthrie-Pimpinella made one save in 29:24 while sophomore Allison McAnally made four saves in 30:36. TCNJ goalkeeper Hailey Wexler made nine saves in the full 60 minutes. Vizian led the Bears with four points on two goals and two assists along with grabbing four draw controls while Hershey had the most goals on the team with three.
 
 
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, March 11th as they will host Alvernia at 4:00 p.m.
