COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus softball team hosted Dickinson for senior day on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action at the Snell Softball Field. The day was highlighted by the Bears overcoming an early deficit to earn the win in game two.
Dickinson used a three-run sixth inning to take game one and started off strong in game two by scoring two runs in the top of the first to go up 2-0. Senior
Kayla Carr quickly got one of the runs back in the bottom of the first by doubling in classmate
Christa Andrusiewicz who led the inning off with a single to make it 2-1. After escaping a second and third one out jam in the top of the second, the Bears tied the game at two in the bottom half of the inning after first-year
Nina Davidson scored following a bunt single by senior
Keelie Hancock plus subsequent Dickinson error. Senior
Riley Coneeny then gave the Bears a 3-2 lead in the next at bat on a sacrifice fly. It was déjà vu in the top of the third as the Red Devils failed to convert a second and third one-out situation to keep the Bears in front at 3-2. Ursinus worked out of runners at the corners with two outs situation in the top of the fifth and got an insurance run to make it 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth after sophomore
Anna Evanchik scored from second on a groundout by Davidson. Sophomore pitcher
Lucy Wolf finished off the win in the seventh by working around a two-out walk for the complete game win.
Andrusiewicz went 2-for-3 in game two with a run scored in game two and sophomore
Reagan Robinson went 2-for-3 in game one with an RBI. Wolf allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits with three strikeouts behind throwing 140 pitches.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday April 14th as they will host Muhlenberg for a doubleheader in their final home games of the regular season starting at 3:00 p.m.
