ASTON, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Volleyball team opened action at the two-day Neumann Knights Invitational against DeSales on Friday evening.

Madison Small once again led the Bears with 10 kills in the match and sophomore
Mackenzie Nardone had a team-high 15 assists. Junior
Molly Stevenson recorded 10 digs and six kills while senior
Alexa Mazzeo led the Bears with 14 digs while adding three assists.
Ursinus started strong in the first set by going up 4-1 and eventually maintaining a 6-2 lead. DeSales won nine of the next 11 points to go up 11-8 and held a 13-10 advantage. The Bears worked their way back and tied the set at 15 before eight straight DeSales points put the first set away. Ursinus took the first lead once again in the second set at 3-0. Ursinus led 8-7 until the Bulldogs won six of the next seven points to go up 13-9. The Bears got a kill from Stevenson to make it 13-10 before DeSales won five straight points to go up 18-10 and Ursinus got no closer than that the rest of the second set. For the third straight set, the Bears gained the early advantage by going up 6-2 and led 8-4. However, once again a lengthy Bulldogs run was the difference as they won nine straight points to go up 13-8 and eventually closed the match out.
The Bears have two matches in the Knights Invitational tomorrow, September 12
th as they will take on the host Neumann at 10:00 a.m. and Rowan at 12:00 p.m.
