Box Score RADNOR, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse
team ran its win streak to four on Saturday morning, as the Bears
(4-1) defeated Cabrini (2-3) 14-12 in non-conference play.
The Bears survived a Cavaliers rally, who came back from six
goals down to cut the deficit to one. The Cavaliers would
eventually take the lead with 13:22 left in regulation, but Ursinus
scored four straight goals over the next 12:30 to put the game out
of reach.
For Ursinus, sophomore midfielder Emily Diehl (Lebanon,
N.J./Voorhees) had four goals and an assist with junior
midfielder Emily Hummel (Lumberton, N.J./Moorestown
Friends) and junior attack Lindsay Urban
(Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) scoring three goals
each. Senior midfielder Elizabeth Cannon (Garrison,
N.Y./James I. O'Neil) and sophomore midfielder
Kim Peifer (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) each had
two assists.
After trailing just 2:12 in, the Bears scored eight of the next
nine goals to take an 8-2 lead with 5:09 left in the first half.
Cabrini, however, scored three goals in the final 1:48 to cut the
Ursinus lead to 8-5 at the half.
In the second half, Cabrini's streak continued as the
Cavaliers cut the deficit to 8-7 with 22:30 left. The Bears would
scored at 21:09 on a goal by Diehl assisted by senior attack
Amy Sezack (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) Cabrini
would answer back with two more goals, but, the Bears would retake
the lead on a free position goal by Hummel with 16:13 left.
Cabrini then scored the next two goals to take an 11-10 lead
with 13:22 left. Diehl's goal with 8:27 left on an assist
from freshman attack Meghan Morley (West Chester,
Pa./Westtown) tied the score at 11-11, with Urban scoring
2:20 later to give the Bears a 12-11 lead. Hummel's second
goal of the half, with 5:18 left on a Diehl assist, proved to be
the game-winner.
Defensively, junior defender Kim Johnson (Sewell,
N.J/Clearview Regional) picked up four groundballs, while
junior midfielder Hannah Kuranz (Dallas,
Texas/Sanford) had six draw controls. Junior midfielder
Allison Furman (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) had
two draw controls in the win.
In goal, senior goalkeeper Alex McBride (Sewell,
N.J./Washington Township) had ten saves.
