Curtis Named Centennial Conference Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. - Adding on to an illustrious four-year career, Ursinus Women's Lacrosse Senior Sophia Curtis was named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year announced by the Conference on Wednesday morning. She was previously named the conference's women's lacrosse athlete of the year last week.
 
 
 
The award is given to the student-athlete with highest cumulative GPA among the winners of the 12 women's sports' scholar athletes of the year. Curtis was part of a five-way tie for the accolade after posting a perfect 4.0 through her final semester this past Spring in addition to numerous accolades she has received this Spring for her dominant season on the field.The overall Scholar-Athletes of the Year are presented to the students with the highest GPA among the 12 men and 12 women's winners. This marks the first-ever five-way tie for the honor on the women's side. With all five women's award recipients being seniors and first team All-Centennial honorees in addition to having matching GPAs, the tie could not be broken based on the CC tiebreaking criteria. 
 
 
 
The Yardley, Pennsylvania native put together one of the best seasons by a defender in the program's history in 2026. She recorded a career best 41 caused turnovers that tied for second most all-time in a single season in program history and led the Centennial Conference in the regular season. She posted a Centennial best 2.41 caused turnovers per game and ranked second on the team and is ninth in the Centennial with 40 ground balls. Curtis was named an All-American Honorable Mention pick by USA Lacrosse Magazine while garnering IWLCA All-Metro Region First Team honors and All-Centennial Conference First Team honors for the first time in her career.
 
 
 
Curtis is the first Ursinus student-athlete to earn an overall Centennial Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year award since its introduction in 2016.
