COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse
team inched closer to clinching a spot in the upcoming Centennial
Conference playoffs on Saturday, as they defeated Dickinson
9-3.
The Bears (10-4, 5-2 Centennial) scored the first five goals of
the game and led the Red Devils (6-5, 3-4 Centennial) by as many as
six goals to remain a perfect 7-0 at home.
Junior attack Lindsay Urban (Doylestown, Pa./C.B. East) and
senior midfielder Elizabeth
Cannon (Garrison, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) each had three goals in
the win, while freshman attack Elizabeth
Chatburn (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin), freshman attack Meghan
Morley (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) and senior attack Amy Sezack
(Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) had a goal in the win. Cannon also
added in two assists for Ursinus.
Urban scored all three of her goals in the first half, with the
last one coming off an assist from junior midfielder Allison
Furman (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) with 8:30 left in the
first half for a 5-0 Ursinus lead.
Defensively, senior midfielder Sarah Brant
(Collegeville, Pa./The Hill School) had six ground balls, while
Furman and Brant each had four caused turnovers.
In goal, senior Alex McBride
(Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) stopped nine shots.
Ursinus goes to Muhlenberg on Wednesday.
