COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus scored the first three goals
of the game and never looked back as the Bears defeated Rowan 13-6
in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup on a hot Tuesday
afternoon.
Ursinus (7-3) got three goals from junior attack Lindsay
Urban (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) had a game-best
three goals, while freshman attack Meghan Morley (West
Chester, Pa./Westtown) and junior midfielder
Allison Furman (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) had
two goals each in the win.
Sophomore midfielder Kim Peifer (Collegeville,
Pa./Methacton) and senior attack Amy Sezack (Mount
Laurel, N.J./Lenape) each had assists for Ursinus.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper Alex McBride (Sewell,
N.J./Washington Township) had five ground balls and five
saves in the win.
Ursinus took the lead 24 seconds in as Furman scored on an
assist by Sezack for the 1-0 lead. The lead grew to 2-0 at the 25
minute mark as sophomore midfielder Emily Diehl (Lebanon,
N.J./Voorhees) scored on a Peifer assist.
Urban scored her first goal of the game at 23:42 for a 3-0 lead.
Rowan (4-4) got as close as two goals twice during the game but
could not get any close.
Leading 6-2 at halftime, Ursinus saw the Profs make a short run
as Alli Dickey and Tori Hart scored goals at 26:42 and 22:33. But,
Ursinus scored the next six to put the game away.
Ursinus heads to Bryn Mawr on Thursday.
