GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Ursinus was held to just eight shots on
goal on Saturday as seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall defeated
the Bears 15-0 on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the
Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.
The Diplomats (13-3) scored nine times in the first period on
its way to a win over Ursinus (11-6) and advanced to the
championship finals to face Gettysburg on Sunday.
For Ursinus, junior midfielder Allison Furman (Gilbertsville,
Pa./Boyertown) had two ground balls, while senior midfielder
Elizabeth Cannon (Garrison, N.Y./James I. O'Neil) had two
draw controls.
In goal, senior Alex McBride (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township)
had nine saves as she faced 26 shots.
For F&M, Meredith Lussier had four goals, with Blake Hargest
adding in three.
Ursinus will now wait to see if it receives an at-large bid to
the NCAA Division III tournament. Those bids will be announced next
Sunday night.
