Cogswell (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) picked the perfect
time for her first collegiate goal.
Her shot from the right side of the box, just got over Lebanon
Valley Flying Dutchmen junior goalkeeper Sami Young with 48 seconds
left in the match, giving Ursinus a 2-1 win over LVC in the season
opener for the Bears.
Lebanon Valley (0-1-1) had several chances to tie the score in
the second half, and did so on a goal from sophomore midfielder
Stevi Laird at 81:56 as her shot from 20 yards out took a similar
path to Cogswell and got past Ursinus freshman goalkeeper Kara
DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township).
Ursinus had an early lead in this one, scoring just under three
minutes in as junior midfielder Jess
Porcelan (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) for an early
1-0 lead.
Both Young and DiJoseph had seven saves as LVC had a 17-15
advantage in shots.
