Women's Lacrosse upended by Haverford, 12-7

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Haverford scored the last four goals of the first half as the Fords (6-9, 4-4 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (8-7, 4-4 Centennial) 12-7 on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse play.

The Fords broke open a one-goal game with 9:04 left in the first half and held Ursinus to just two goals the rest of the way.

Ursinus got two goals from junior attack Lauren Garganio (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) in the loss, while senior attack Emily Diehl (Lebanon, N.J./Voorhees) had one goal and one assist.

After being tied at 1-all, Ursinus had only trailed by one goal twice leading up to the run by Haverford. Ursinus only got to within five in the second half twice.

Individually, senior midfielder Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and senior attack Kim Peifer (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) each had four draw controls, while Taylor Egolf scooped up three ground balls.

In goal, sophomore Riley Pembroke (Great Falls, Va./Langley) had 11 saves.

Ursinus travels to Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon.
