Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – For the third straight season, the Ursinus College women's lacrosse team will participate in the Centennial Conference Playoffs.
And for the first time since 2007, the Bears will open up the playoffs at home.
Ursinus (9-7), the fourth seed, will host fifth-seeded Swarthmore (11-5) on Wednesday night at 7 in the first-round game at Patterson Field.
This will be the second meeting of the two schools, as Ursinus got a 16-9 win over the Garnet back on March 17 in Collegeville.
Ursinus has played in just two first round games in the tournament in their history, ironically, the lone win in the two games was a 12-9 win over the Garnet back in 2006. That was Swarthmore's lone appearance in the tournament.
Ursinus is led by senior Alyssa Thren who had 49 goals on the season, third among players in the Centennial Conference this season.
Swarthmore is led by junior Annalise Penikis who leads the Centennial in both goals (61), assists (37) and points (98) this season.
The winner of the game will advance to Saturday's semifinals at Gettysburg, and will take on host and defending national champion Gettysburg at 1 p.m.
The championship is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Live stats, along with live video, will be available for Wednesday night's game.
