Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Four goals from junior midfielder Cortney Natalicchio and three from senior attack Kendal Borup paced The College of New Jersey as the 14th-ranked Lions (4-2) defeated Ursinus (1-7) 11-3 in women's lacrosse play at a frosty Patterson Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The 11 goals came off of a 29-12 shot advantage for the Lions, who led 7-1 after one half of play.
For Ursinus, junior midfielder Mary Deliberti (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) scored a free position shot in the first half, while junior midfielder Brynn Dietzel (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored twice in the second half, the latter goal with 11:22 left pulled Ursinus to within five at 8-3.
Natalicchio two goals in the opening 13 minutes to give the Lions a 2-0 lead, before Deliberti's goal with 14:08 left in the game put the Bears within one at 2-1. The Lions would close the half on a 5-0 run, with Borup scoring three straight goals. Her third, with 5:34 left, gave the Lions a 6-1 lead.
Natalicchio scored her last two goals in the second half, both with 47 seconds of each other at 10:50 and 10:03.
Individually, freshman attack Julia Fleming (Glenside, Pa./Penn Charter) had two caused turnovers for Ursinus, with junior goalkeeper Margaret Philbin (Danbury, Conn./Ridgefield) getting four groundballs. Deliberti had two draw controls for Ursinus.
For the Lions, senior attack Erin Healy and senior midfielder Lauren Karpovich had two caused turnovers, while three players (senior attack Ava Fitzgerald, Healy and junior midfielder Megan Devlin (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City)) had three draw controls.
In goal, TCNJ sophomore Kelly Schlupp had five saves, while Philbin had seven saves in 49 minutes with freshman Meaghan Corbin (Danville, Calif./Carondelet) making three in the final 11 minutes of the game.
