COLLEGEVILLE, PA. - Ursinus College women's swimming team rattled off five event victories and 14 top-5 finishes to highlight a successful midseason meet at the Gettysburg Invitational Friday and Saturday. 

The Bears took third place among the meet's 8 teams who took part at the Gettysburg Invitational, tallying 507 points.  

Sophomore Melissa Leonard led the way for the Bears, collecting three wins in the 500 (5:04.83), 200 (1:55.17), and 1650-Yard Freestyle event touching the pad in 17:39.40. Leonard teamed up with Molly Stevens, Sophie Lear, and Liv Rachael to help the Bears collect a second-place finish in the 400-Yard Medley relay with a time of 3:56.68.  

Leonard, Rachael, Katie Barlow, and Lear also took home second in the 400-freestyle relay finishing with a time of 3:32.12. Senior Sophie Lear enjoyed a great weekend as well, collecting wins in both the 200-yard IM (2:08.80) and 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.67. Lear also recorded a third-place finish in the 100-yard Breaststroke touching the pad at 1:06.34.  

Not to be outdone, Liv Rachael recorded two top-5 finishes in the individual events, collecting second place in the 50 free (24.47) and fourth in the 100-freestyle event with a time of 53.44.  

Junior Abigail Ferguson collected a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard IM and teamed with Stevens, Lear, and Rachael for a second-place finish in the 400 Medley race with a time of 3:56.68.  

The Bears will return to action January 14 as they host Cabrini for a dual-meet.
