LANCASTER, PA. - The Ursinus College Women's Swimming team wrapped up day three of their competition at the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday. The Bears currently sit in third place with 348 total points.
Day three saw Ursinus earn two gold medals and numerous personal bests on the season. The Bears opened with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Sophie Lear, Katie Barlow, Melissa Leonard, and Liv Rachael earned a first-place finish with a time of 1:36.23. Rachael had an outstanding performance in the anchor spot reaching the wall in just 23.62 seconds.
Next, junior Abigail Ferguson earned a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:38.10. Ferguson's time now ranks 4th all-time in the Ursinus record books for the 400 IM. In the B-Final, first-year Katie Barlow earned a second-place finish with a time of 4:45.86. Senior Liv Rachael collected a personal best and a fourth-place finish in the 100 Butterfly event after finishing with a time of 58.20.
Sophomore Melissa Leonard carved her name into the Ursinus record books, finishing first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:52.95. Leonard's time currently stands 4th in the all-time top-10 and was a career personal best. First-year Molly Stevens collected a 6th place finish in the 100 back after touching the wall at 59.59. Stevens earned 13 team points for the Bears in the race and recorded a personal best with her performance.
After day three, the Bears currently sit in third place with 348 team points. The Bears will dive back into the pool tomorrow morning and will look to bring home more gold medals. Tomorrow's events are listed in order below.
