COLLEGEVILLE, PA. - First-years Jakob Cantor and Dylan Runsdorf combined for six hits and six RBIs in the Bears 14-4 victory in game two over Eastern University on Saturday afternoon. Ursinus fell in game one of the double header falling 3-2 to the Eagles but the bats came alive as the Bears earned the split.  

Game One: Eastern 3 Ursinus 2 

Tanner Creel started on the mound for the Eagles and was lights out all afternoon, earning his first collegiate victory after pitching a complete game, while allowing six hits and striking out five Bears. Ursinus jumped on the board in the first inning after a sacrifice fly from Matteo Falcone drove allowed Cantor to score. Eastern answered right back in the second, after loading the bases with two outs a balk was called on starting pitcher Matt Tuley that allowed the tying run to score.  

Creel started to settle in for the Eagles as he retired the side in order in the bottom half of the inning and the score was tied at one a piece after two. Eastern added two more runs in the third inning as a Scott Cottrell double allowed Brad Clemens to score. Crammer made the score 3-2 after a single allowed Max Gadsden to score. The Bears had a chance to tie the game in the sixth after Falcone reached second, but a strikeout and flyout ended the inning. Crammer led the Bears in game one going 2 for 2 with an RBI.  

Game Two: Eastern 4 Ursinus 14  

Sophomore T.J. Snyder took the mound in game two and turned in a stellar performance. Snyder earned the win after going five innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six Eagles. Eastern opened with two runs in the top half of the first inning after a double by Matt McHale and Mark Cruser each scored a run. The Bears exploded for 11 runs in the second inning and controlled a 12-2 lead after two innings. Ursinus used six free passes and six hits in the inning to jump out to the commanding lead. Gadsden, Runsdorf, Cantor, Falcone and Peter Balos each drove in runs during the inning. In the fourth inning, leading 13-2, Dylan Crammer blasted his first collegiate home run to make the score 14-2.  

Joey Mullen, Mike Scheller, and David Morgan closed out the final two innings to give the Bears the split for the series.  

The Bears will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Albright for a non-conference matchup with the Lions.
