NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – The Ursinus men's golf team set a 36-hole school record, finishing seventh at the DeSales Fall Classic held Friday and Saturday.
 

Five Bears competed at Olde Homestead Golf Course, a par-72 layout that stretches 6,615 yards. Ursinus posted a program-best two-day score of 627, breaking the previous school mark of 632. The Bears opened with a team score of 319 on Friday, followed by a 308 in Saturday's second round. Albright College won the team title with a score of 593. The University of Scranton placed second at 603, followed by Drew University (610), Kean University (612), and Lebanon Valley College (614) rounding out the top five.

 
First-year JP Hoban and junior Brandon Mongan led the way for Ursinus, each earning top-16 finishes. Hoban tied for 13th with a two-day total of 150, carding rounds of 76 and 74. He recorded five birdies over the tournament and opened Saturday with 11 consecutive pars. Mongan finished at 152 after shooting a 75 on Friday and a 77 on Saturday. He made five birdies and fired a two-under 34 on the back nine in the opening round.

 
Sophomore Aidan Bonczek and senior Slade Figard each posted collegiate 18-hole lows during the tournament. Bonczek shot an 83 on Friday, then recorded a collegiate-best 78 on Saturday to finish tied for 31st with a total of 161. His second round included 13 pars, with nine coming over his final 10 holes. Figard tied for 48th with a two-day total of 170. After opening with a 91, he rebounded to shoot a collegiate-low 79 on Saturday, highlighted by four birdies over his last seven holes.

 
First-year Jason Walsh rounded out the Bears' lineup, tying for 41st with a 165 after rounds of 85 and 80.

 
Ursinus returns to action Friday, October 10th, when it hosts The Bear at Berkleigh Golf Course. The first tee time is set for 10 a.m.
