WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team opened play at the Centennial Conference Championships on Friday afternoon.
Five Bears competed at Waynesboro Country Club, a par-72 course measuring 6,596 yards. Ursinus posted a team score of 323 and is tied for sixth in the standings.
Franklin & Marshall leads the field with a team total of 282 (6-under), followed by Dickinson at 286 (2-under) and McDaniel at 287 (1-under). Gettysburg sits in fourth at 290 (2-over), while Swarthmore (302), Ursinus (323), Muhlenberg (323) and Washington College (343) round out the eight-team field.
First-year
JP Hoban leads the Bears and is tied for 20th after carding a 4-over 76. Hoban shot a 3-over 39 on the front nine before posting a 1-over 37 on the back, highlighted by birdies on the par-4 13th and par-4 16th holes.
Classmate
Lucas Milliken is just behind, tied for 30th after shooting a 9-over 81. Milliken recorded birdies on the par-4 second and par-4 fifth holes en route to a 5-over 41 on the front nine. He added another birdie on the par-5 14th and four pars on the back to finish with a 4-over 40.
First-year
Jason Walsh and senior
Jimmy Cage are tied for 32nd after each posted rounds of 83. Walsh shot 40 on the front nine and 43 on the back, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole. Cage opened with a birdie on the par-5 first hole en route to a 39 on the front and a 44 on the back.
Sophomore
Aidan Bonczek rounded out the lineup with an 87 and is tied for 35th. He recorded six pars during his round.
The Bears return to action Saturday morning for the second round, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
