FLEETWOOD, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team wrapped up a successful first round of competition Sunday and currently ranks second at the Moselem Cup.
Eight Bears competed at Moselem Spring Golf Club, a par-70 course that stretches 6,824 yards. The Bears posted a team total of 320, their second-lowest score of the spring, and sit second overall in the seven-team field. Juniata College leads with a team score of 307, followed by Susquehanna (323) in third. Eastern University (330) and Washington College (330) are tied for fourth to round out the top five.
First-year
JP Hoban leads the Bears and is tied for second overall after carding a six-over 76. Hoban shot a six-over 41 on the front nine before responding with an even-par 35 on the back nine. His round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 12th, followed by six straight pars.
First-years
Lucas Milliken and
Jason Walsh are tied for 13th after each posting an 11-over 81 in their opening round. Milliken shot a seven-over 42 on the front nine before recording six pars on the back nine en route to a 39. Walsh led the team with three birdies, including on the par-3 fifth and par-5 seventh holes.
Sophomore
Aidan Bonczek carded a 12-over 82 and is tied for 16th overall. His round featured five pars across the front and back nines. Senior
Jimmy Cage rounded out the Bears' lineup, tying for 23rd with a 14-over 84. Cage recorded a birdie on the par-4 ninth and shot 41 on the front nine and 43 on the back.
Juniors
Trevor Maden and
Logan Jones, along with senior
Slade Figard, competed as individuals. Maden (84) is tied for 23rd, while Figard and Jones sit 34th and 37th, respectively.
The Bears return to action Monday to wrap up the Moselem Cup, with play beginning at noon.
