DALLAS, Pa. – The Ursinus women's swimming team concluded a successful weekend by placing second at the Cougar Splash on Sunday, hosted by Misericordia University.
Ursinus totaled 528 team points en route to the second-place finish, while the University of Scranton won the team title with 585.5 points. Host Misericordia University (419.5) took third, Ramapo (225) placed fourth, Susquehanna University (207) finished fifth, and Juniata College (174) rounded out the six-team field.
First-year
Caelan Ladd opened the final session by earning her third event victory of the meet, winning the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:37.26. Her time ranks third in program history, second fastest in the Centennial Conference this season, and 20th in Division III. Classmate
Kendell Goelz placed 10th in the event with a time of 18:42.86.
Next, Ursinus posted a pair of top-six finishes in the 100-yard freestyle as senior
Sara Bozzomo took second with a time of 54.04, while first-year
Isabella Warren finished sixth at 55.01. The Bears carried the momentum into the 200-yard breaststroke, where juniors
Morgan Valeriano (2:24.38) and
Melanie Hahn (2:29.77) recorded the top two times.
Ursinus closed out the meet by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the group of Hahn, Bozzomo, Ladd and Valeriano combined for a time of 3:34.57.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when they travel to York College for a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
