LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team closed out the third day of competition at the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday from Franklin & Marshall College.
The Bears currently sit in fifth place in the team standings behind 218 total points. Swarthmore College (713) currently leads the pack with Gettysburg College (581), Franklin & Marshall (293.5), and Dickinson (236) rounding out the top-four. Behind Ursinus, Washington College (202), Bryn Mawr College (109.5), and McDaniel College (103) round out the eight-team field.
Ursinus opened with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of junior
Sara Bozzomo, seniors
Katie Barlow,
Molly Stevens, and
Alexandra Zelinske combined for a time of 1:39.63. Next, in the B-Final of the 400 IM, sophomore
Melanie Hahn (4:44.18) and senior
Emily Carkhuff (4:50.09) placed fourth and sixth, respectively.
In the A-Final of the 100-yard butterfly, Stevens placed eighth to earn 11 team points for Ursinus behind a time of 59.92. Sophomore
Sylvi Lynch placed sixth in the B-Final by touching the wall at 1:00.78. Stevens later added a fourth-place finish in the B-Final of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.90, while Zelinske placed seventh by touching the wall at 1:00.89.
Bozzomo shined in the finals of the 200-yard freestyle, collecting a sixth-place nod with a time of 1:55.35. Meanwhile, sophomore
Mia Tamburrino placed seventh in the B-Final of the 100-yard breaststroke by finishing with a time of 1:11.37.
Tomorrow morning's prelims will consist of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and 1650 free.
The Bears return to action tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. as they compete on the final day of competition for the Centennial Conference Championship.
