CORALVILLE, IOWA. – Six Ursinus College women's wrestlers competed at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) on Friday at the Xtream Arena.
Junior
Kalli Roskos and sophomore
Cloe Charlesworth led the Bears, each earning two wins in their respective weight classes. Ursinus currently sits 32nd in the team standings totaling nine points. No.2 North Central leads the 55-team field with 111 total points, while No. 1 Iowa (107.5) ranks second, and No. 3 McKendree University (103) rounds out the top-three teams.

Roskos opened with a comeback victory over Ayonna McNeil of Mount Olive by criteria. She trailed 5-0 midway through the second period before tallying a pair of takedowns to tie the score at five a piece. With under 20 seconds remaining, Roskos shot in on a single leg and advanced her positioning for the match-winning takedown. Unfortunately, she fell in the Round of 16 against the No. 3 seed Shelby Moore of McKendree University by a 10-0 score. Roskos responded in the consolation bracket by earning a 59-second fall over Elmira's Megan Edwards to reach the second round of wrestle backs. In the match against Edwards, Roskos countered a shot attempt and threw Edwards to her back for the pin. Next, Roskos fell 13-4 score against Jazmene Molina of Utica University to finish 2-2.
At 145 pounds, Charlesworth recorded a fall at the 2:18 mark in her opening bout against D'Youville's Saniyah Ward. Charlesworth faced an early 4-0 deficit, before using a pair of takedowns and adjusting a power half for the fall. Next, in the Round of 16, Charlesworth fell by a fall against the No. 6 seed Savannah Gomez of McKendree University. She bounced back in the consolation bracket by earning a second period pin over Frostburg State's Amber Hunter Snyder. In her final match, Charlesworth dropped a 7-4 decision against Aine Moffit of Augustana College. Trailing 2-0 with a minute remaining in the opening stanza, Charlesworth connected on an inside leg trip to tie the match. After advancing her positioning, Charlesworth nearly recorded the fall but would eventually lose 7-4.
Sophomore
Mandy Gavares went 0-2 at 103 pounds as she opened against Schreiner University's Odelia Lopez and fell by a 10-0 score. In the consolations, she fell to Jesenia Camargo of Delaware Valley by a 12-10 score. Camargo jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead, before Gavares closed out the first period with two four-point throws. With under 10-seconds remaining in the period, Gavares connected on a headlock and nearly secured a pin as time expired. In the final stanza, she cut her deficit down to two but was unable to connect on a final takedown falling 12-10.
At 110 pounds, first-year
Olivia Guy dropped her opening bout against Lindenwood's Kate Cooper by a fall at the 1:10-mark of the first period. In the consolations, Guy fell against Gannon's Katerina Pendergrass by a 13-2 score to end an incredible rookie season. She finished with a 24-11 record, ranked third on the team with 17 victories by fall, and became the fifth Bear in program history to qualify for the National Championship in her first season.
In the 131-pound bracket, sophomore
Stacy Bloomfield went 0-2 in her NCWWC National Championship debut. Bloomfield dropped her opening bout to Ella Finding of Simon Fraser University, 10-0, by technical fall. She then faced Lock Haven's Lillian Sherer and lost by fall at the 2:57-mark of the first period. Bloomfield jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, before Sherer stormed back and grabbed a 5-4 advantage enroute to the pin. Bloomfield closes out a breakout sophomore season that saw her finish with a 30-12 record, placing second at the NCWWC Region II Championships, and leading the Bears in victories.
Sophomore
Emma Matera made her second appearance at the NCWWC National Tournament and went 0-2 in the 160-pound weight class. Matera fell by a 10-0 technical superiority against the No. 1 seed and 2024 Paris Olympic silver medalist, Iowa's Kennedy Blades. In the consolations, Matera lost by a first-period fall against Avry Ryhal of Lock Haven University. She closes out her sophomore season with a 24-11 overall record and ranked fourth on the team with 13 victories by fall.
The Bears closed out a historic season that saw the team set a program record in wins by finishing 13-5 in dual meets. Ursinus earned a pair of top-25 victories over Lock Haven University and Gannon University, while setting a program record with six national qualifiers.
