COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College Softball senior
Samantha Mallen was named the EAST-COMM Female Athlete of the Month for April, announced by the organization on Friday morning.
EAST-COMM recognizes one male and female student-athlete from its member schools every month. Sports Information Directors of EAST-COMM member schools were able to nominate one male and female student-athletes from their respective institutions following outstanding athletic performances in the month of April.
Mallen became the first Ursinus softball player to reach the 200-career hit mark while becoming the Ursinus all-time hits and runs scored leader during the month of April. She also retook the single season Centennial Conference stolen base record and became the Conference's all-time leader in stolen bases. Mallen helped lead the team into a postseason berth by going 27-of-55 (.491) with 18 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, and three RBI in 16 games during the month of April. Her play in the month of April helped solidify Centennial Conference Player of the Year and All-Centennial first team honors.
