FLEETWOOD, Pa. – Ursinus Men's Golf first-year
JP Hoban made a statement in his collegiate debut by winning the two-day UC Season Opener at Moselem Springs Golf Club between Sunday and Monday.
The event hosted by Ursinus served as the first event for the team's fall schedule for the 2025-26 season.
Hoban began on Sunday by matching the Ursinus Men's Golf individual program low round of 69 (-1) that was originally set by Russell Hill in 2015 at Stonewall Links and held the lead by two strokes after the first day. He locked up the individual title by carding a 71 (+1) on Monday which was the second lowest among the competitors and totaled an overall par (140) for the event. He won by four strokes over Penn State Berks Peyton Moyer.
As a team, the Bears had two teams competing as the group of Hoban, senior
Jimmy Cage, first-year
Jason Walsh, junior
Brandon Mongan, and sophomore
Aidan Bonczek finished sixth overall with a two-day team score of 644. The Ursinus B team of first-year
Lucas Milliken, junior
Trevor Maden, senior
Slade Figard, and junior
Logan Jones tallied a team score of 698. Stevens won the team title with a two-day score of 599.
Milliken led the B team and ranked second among all Ursinus golfers in 26
th overall with a total of 163 (+23) behind an 82 on Sunday and 81 on Monday. Bonczek tied for 27
th overall on his score of 166 (+26) and Walsh was 31
st with a 169 (+29). Cage was right behind in 32
nd with his total of 170 (+30), Maden tied for 33rd on a 171 (+31), and Mongan was 36
th on a 172 (+32). Jones (139 +39) and Figard (185 +45) rounded out the Ursinus scores.
The Bears return to action on Sunday, September 21
st as they will open play in the two-day "The Gauntlet" Invitational at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa. starting at 11:00 a.m.
