COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus women's indoor track and field team returned to action on Sunday for the first time in over a month at the annual Collegeville Classic inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
The meet was highlighted by a pair of indoor school records. First, in the 300 meters, first-year
Sophia Pascale topped Krista King's 2001 mark of 43.29 with a time of 41.84. Pascale's performance ranks 26th in Division III. Next, the Bears' 4x200-meter relay team of senior
Kaelin Ryan, sophomore
Nadly Gyapong, Pascale and first-year
Laela Middleton broke the school record with a time of 1:46.54, surpassing the previous mark of 1:46.99 set in 2011.
Ryan (8.00) and Gyapong (8.02) posted strong performances in the 60 meters, earning the top two times in both the prelims and finals. Ryan added her third event victory of the day in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.13. Classmate
Juniper Bauroth-Sherman finished second in the event with a time of 9.87.
In the 600 meters, Ursinus recorded four of the top five times, with senior
Jaycie Miller leading the group by placing second in 1:47.39. First-year
Alissa Joseph (1:48.14) ranked third, first-year Allie Severino (1:48.73) took fourth, and senior
Corrine Martello (1:54.87) rounded out the top five. Senior
Mia Sideris won the 1,000-meter race in 3:17.49, while sophomores
Aubrey Myers (3:30.99) and
Elizabeth Dill (3:35.45) placed second and third, respectively.
In the field events, sophomore
Emily Barlam won the long jump with a mark of 5.03 meters, while classmate
Sam Leo took second at 4.79 meters. Bauroth-Sherman added a victory in the pole vault with a mark of 2.90 meters. First-year
Arnie Etienne won the triple jump at 10.36 meters, with Barlam (10.07) finishing second, senior
Rhiannon Okuniewski (9.68) placing third and first-year
Isabel Dela Torre (9.47) taking fourth.
In the shot put, junior
Randi Wood placed second with a throw of 10.18 meters. Junior
Hannah Quinn won the weight throw with a mark of 12.42 meters, while first-year
Addison Rogers (9.53) and Wood (9.45) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
The Bears will return to action Saturday, Jan. 31, when they travel to Alvernia University for the PLEX Shootout.
