COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus women's swimming team battled, but was edged at home, 145-116, against Stevens on Saturday.

The loss drops the Bears to 5-6 on the season, while the Ducks improved to 3-3 overall.

Sara Bozzomo got things started, earning second in the 400-yard Medley Relay combining for a time of 4:12.04. First-year Kendall Goetz followed, finishing 4th in the 1000-yard freestyle by touching the wall at 11:46.05.

Ursinus recorded key points in the 200-yard freestyle, as Hahn (2:02.95) and first-year
Isabella Warren (2:05.65) earned second and third. Â Sophomores
Maria Wehmeyer (1:04.50) and
Haley Lenker (1:08.04) continued the strong performances, placing second and third in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Bears' first win came from Valeriano, as she took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.47. It would be the first of two individual victories for Valeriano, as she also won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:32.45. Ladd built on the momentum, winning the 200-yard butterfly in a pool record 2:07.37. The time was also good for second-fastest in the Centennial Conference so far this season. Ladd won a trio events on the day, taking victory in the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.09) and 200 yard IM (2:10.98), as well.

Bozzomo made it three straight wins for the Bears, capturing the 50-yard freestyle in 25.83. Bozzomo showed tremendous strength by swimming back-to-back events, coming through in the 100-yard freestyle as well by earning second place (56.11). Wehmeyer picked up her first win of the meet in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.95). Meanwhile, Goelz (1:04.69) and Warren (1:04.84) followed up with second and third-place finishes in the 100 yard butterfly.

Ursinus will return to action on Saturday, January 31st at 1 P.M, for a conference meet against Washington College. It will be the Bears' senior day.
