HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – The Ursinus College men's basketball team closed 2010 on a winning note as the Bears snapped a five-game losing streak with a 80-73 win over Marymount University (Va.) on Thursday afternoon in the consolation of the Car Coop/Weenie Miller Holiday Hoops Tournament hosted by Hampden-Sydney College.

Five players for Ursinus scored in double figures for the Bears, with senior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) and sophomore forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) each netting 19 points. Ward was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts. Hilton also chipped in with seven steals.

Freshman point guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) had 14 points, with sophomore forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and sophomore guard Matt Donahue (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) each scoring ten.

For Marymount, Tarek Ammoury scored 29 points off the bench, as Marymount got 60 points from their bench in the loss.

Ursinus took an early 11-4 lead in the opening part of the first half with 14:23 left on a three-pointer by Janowski. Marymount would fight back to tie the score three times, before taking their first lead at 25-24 on a layup by Ammoury. There were 11 ties in the first half, with Marymount taking a 44-41 lead at intermission on a three-pointer at the horn by Stephen Simoneau.

In the second half, Ursinus took the lead for good at 46-44 with 16:24 left on a layup by Ward. Marymount was limited to just six field goals in the second half, which allowed Ursinus to take as much as an 11-point lead with 3:24 left.

The Bears had a strong performance from the foul line, going 27-for-33 (81.8 percent) in the contest. The Bears grabbed 34 rebounds, with Janowski grabbing six.

Ursinus takes on Albright at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the DeSales tournament.
