COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus senior pitcher Lauren
Davis-Macedonia (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) tossed a
no-hitter in the back end of a doubleheader against Immaculata on
Monday afternoon.
Davis fanned 11 and walked two as the Bears won the second game
6-0, while the Bears (23-3) defeated the Mighty Macs (10-13)5-1 in
game two.
In the nightcap, Davis faced 23 batters to record the no-no.
Ursinus scored two times in the first and three times in the
third on the way to the win. Sophomore left fielder Kelly Kalovcak
(Pottsville, Pa./Minersville Area) was 2-for-2 with a run scored
and a RBI, while freshman shortstop Kelli Jerdan (Philadelphia,
Pa./Archbishop Ryan), sophomore second baseman Abby Sido (Hershey,
Pa./Hershey), sophomore first baseman Kate Kehoe (Mariposa,
Calif./Mariposa County) and junior left fielder Liz Lowes
(Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan) also drove in runs.
In the first game, Immaculata scored one run in the top of the
first, but, Ursinus scored three times in the bottom of the frame
and never looked back.
Jerdan finished game two 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI.
Freshman first baseman Allison Pfrommer (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea
Regional), Kalovcak, sophomore catcher Rachel Vietheer (Bethpage,
N.Y./Bethpage) also had RBI hits. Jerdan had a triple in the fifth
inning in the win.
Freshman pitcher Jennilyn Weber (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley)
got the win, as she allowed just two hits in seven innings. She
struck out six and walked three.
Ursinus goes to Lebanon Valley on Tuesday.
